November and delights

All bundled up and ready for winter, Mythologia handmade leather sandals gives a few tips 

The great celebrations of fall lead us into the great festivities of winter. It is obvious that sandals, even those lovingly handcrafted of real leather, seem somewhat out of place in November. Temperatures have fallen, the weather is crisp if not positively freezing and our breezy summer garments have been tucked away in closets and drawers. 

A few mementos of summer may still lie around. The photos of sunsets and beaches in our smartphones or instagram accounts, some pebbles or shells in vases might remind us of moments we thought significant or enjoyed immensely. These will probably stand the test of time. At Mythologia we make our sandals to be as resilient and durable as your fondest memories of summers. We choose leather, colors and techniques of great quality. And you can do your part to preserve them in the best possible condition.  

The first thing you want to do is have them cleaned thoroughly before storing them. If you clean them yourself, start with a good brushing with a soft brush (not a plastic one) to remove loose dirt. Once you are done you can use a liquid cleanser/conditioner or saddle soap for a deeper cleaning. Leave them to air dry in a cool dry place. 

Then proceed to storing them. If there’s enough space in your closet, use the original Mythologia boxes and the pouch you have received them in. If you need to use a rack, make sure it is placed in a cool and dry room, for excess moisture can cause damage to leather. Then make sure you use a shoe tree or acid - free paper to help maintain their shape. Newspapers and plastic bags are not the best solutions for storing your sandals as they can cause discoloration or disintegration to leather.   

It does take a little work, but like the precious summers we plan ahead and enjoy, your Mythologia leather sandals are worth it.
